Agrichemicals
Pesticides and Related Compounds
We test for over 300 pesticide, herbicide and other agricultural chemicals in all food matrices by routine screening at trace level.
Veterinary Medicines
Our Wellington Laboratory routinely tests meat, milk and honey products for a wide range of veterinary medicine residues. Animal remedies are widely used in the agricultural sector for a variety of reasons. Testing is carried out to ensure that the quality of the product meets both domestic and international standards.
Routine Analytical Services Include:
Antibiotics – aminoglycocides, beta lactams, carbadox, chloramphenicol, coccidiostats, fumagillin,
macrolides, malachite, green, nitrofurans, nitroimidazoles, phenicols, quinolones, sulfonamides,
tetracyclines, virginiamycin
Anthelmintics – benzimidazoles, closantel, levamisole, macrocyclic lactones, trimethoprim
Hormones – androgens, beta-agonists, corticosteroids, estrogens, stilbenes, resorcylic lactones
Poisons – 1080, anticoagulants, shellfish biotoxins
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Species verification
Sudan dyes
We use techniques such as microbial inhibition testing, ELISA, high performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. Our laboratory is routinely audited by IANZ, NZFSA and the US FDA. We are happy to be audited by customers as required. We take part in ILCP programmes run by NRS (Australia). In addition, our staff have extensive experience in developing methods for detecting new compounds in a wide range of matrices.
Japanese Positive List Testing
Under the new Positive List system, Japan is prohibiting foods containing ingredients of agricultural chemicals and feed additives over a certain level. By testing for the almost 800 chemicals concerned, we can provide vital market access to the Japanese market.
