Water Testing (Aquatic and Marine)
We can monitor your water supply to identify possible harmful contaminants, determine compliance against the New Zealand Drinking Water Standards and MAF Standards, and help you meet regulatory requirements. We can test your water supply for a full range of micro-organisms and organic contaminants, and pesticide residues. Upon identification of any problems, we will help you to understand the potential causes and impacts on your business and assist with independent advice on treatment options.
The source and security of your water supply, as well as the nature of the water treatment process and any regulatory requirements, will determine the type and frequency of testing required. AsureQuality's range of water testing services is designed to assist the food, agricultural and horticultural industries, water suppliers and environmental monitoring agencies meet regulatory requirements and solve water quality problems.
Water testing services include:
AquaDairy
This package is designed to test the water supplies for the New Zealand Dairy Industry. MAF is currently using the Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand as the compliance standards for the dairy industry. The Ministry of Health analyse information about the catchment and land use in the area, treatment processes, distribution system and surveillance data, and then determine the tests required for each water supply. The Standards detail which tests are carried out on priority classes that have a higher potential risk of contamination.
AsureQuality recommends all water used in the production and processing of dairy products is tested for all potential contaminants in the higher risk category. The Ministry also requires that any water produced on site and provided as potable water either to staff or the local community comply with the Drinking Water Standards.
AquaFarm
This package is designed to determine compliance with the MAF Standard for Farm Dairy Water, where this water may come into contact with raw milk that is used to manufacture dairy products.
AquaFarm Plus
This package is designed to solve problems associated with farm water quality and reticulation. A suite of tests is recommended to provide the information necessary to precisely identify the issue(s) and provide the best advice for treatment options.
AquaFarm Custom
There are a wide variety of sources of individual water supplies. A water quality issue might arise from one, or a combination of circumstances relating to the source or its contamination. A range of specific tests are available to identify a particular problem, contaminant or source of contamination, and determine the best option forward.
AquaFarm Hort
By testing the water used in the horticultural industry, we can help prevent plant injury from high levels of dissolved salts, or poisoning from chemical ions. We can detect contamination with herbicides and ensure the long term health of soil. Water testing can also help to minimise down-grading due to unattractive deposits or stains as well as prevent blockages or damage to irrigation equipment.
SchoolSafe
This is a simple way of checking that water is microbiologically safe to drink. The same service is available to check the safety of water in swimming pools.
The SchoolSafe Programme uses the regular testing of water samples to indicate whether or not school water supplies have been exposed to contamination from bacteria or other micro-organisms that could cause illness in people. Initially, a Faecal coliform test is done. If a positive result is found, further investigations need to be done to determine the potential scope and cause of the problem, so that the water source can be made safe again.
Food Processing and Export Premises Water Tests
MAF requires food processors and exporters such as slaughter, packing and store premises used for meat and fish to conduct testing on the water used in their processes. The type and frequency of testing is specified by MAF for the particular premise function, type and volume of water used.
AsureQuality holds MILAB Accreditation to conduct the Fish Aesthetics, Category A and Category B water testing to meet all MAF requirements, including that for EEC specifications for export premises.
Drinking Water Testing
We can assess whether your current water supply or one on a property you are considering purchasing, is suitable for drinking by offering a suite of tests commonly used to assess a water source. The testing can be motified to suite particular situations and is tested against the New Zealand Drinking Water Standard.
Reticulated supplies from City and District Councils provide surety to the property gate but not at the kitchen tap. The quality of water sourced on site from wells and bores, new or nearby supplies such as streams, springs and reservoirs, and quality variations due to dry season or nearby activity, can all be determined.
Custom Tests
There are a wide variety of sources of individual water supplies. A water quality issue might arise from one, or a combination of circumstances relating to the source or its contamination. A range of specific tests are available to identify a particular problem, contaminant or source of contamination, and determine the best option forward.
