  • Within hours of nest being discovered, Field Operation Response Team (FORT) headquarters set up Biosecurity Threat - Red Imported Fire Ant
  • Movement restrictions on certain goods imposed
  • Just hours after notification, nest was eradicated
  • Surveillance initiated in 10m x 10m grid over 200 m² area
  • 5000 attractant baits and 420 pitfall traps
  • On-going surveillance fortnightly until spring within 200m of nest
  • Continued ‘organism management’ on site
