AsureQuality Approved Boarding Kennel and Cattery Programme
Animal welfare considerations are becoming increasingly important and are recognised legally and financially. High standards are pertinent in the pet boarding industry and are often rewarded with direct economic benefits.
In 1993, the 'Code of Recommendations and Minimum Standards for the Welfare of Animals in Boarding Establishments (Code of Animal Welfare No. 9)' was endorsed as a national code. It was written by AWAC (Animal Welfare Advisory Committee) with support from 'MAF Quality Management' (now AsureQuality), RNZSPCA, and veterinarians. The document assists with the establishment of new facilities, providers inspectors with a measurement of standards (operating under the Animal Protection Act), and ensures that the industry at large has a set of current standards to follow.
We welcome any queries and look forward to having you on board.
